Virus Removal Tools

Korgo Removal Tool W32.Korgo.X is a worm that attempts to propagate by exploiting the Microsoft Windows LSASS Buffer Overrun Vulnerability (described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011) on TCP port 445.  Click here to view the Symantec documentation on the use of the Korgo Removal Tool.
Sasser Removal Tool W32.Sasser.B.Worm is a variant of W32.Sasser.Worm. It attempts to exploit the LSASS vulnerability described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011. This worm spreads by scanning randomly selected IP addresses for vulnerable systems.  Click here to view the Symantec documentation on the use of the Sasser Removal Tool.
Netsky Removal Tool W32.Netsky.B is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to send itself to the email addresses it finds when scanning the hard drives and mapped drives. This worm also searches drives C through Z for folder names containing "Share" or "Sharing," and then copies itself to those folders.   Click here to view the Symantec documentation on the use of the Netsky Removal Tool.

Spyware Tools

Spy Bot Search & Destroy Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware.  Click here to visit the Spybot website.
CWShredder A small utility for removing CoolWebSearch (aka CoolWwwSearch, YouFindAll, White-Pages.ws and a dozen other names). Spybot S&D and Ad-aware tend to forget essential parts of the hijack, so until they update, you can use this to completely remove the hijack. This program is updated to remove the new variants once they come out.  Click here to visit the Spyware info website.
Hijackthis HijackThis, a general homepage hijackers detector and remover.  Initially based on the article Hijacked!, but expanded with almost a dozen other checks against hijacker tricks. It is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks.  It does not target specific programs/URLs, just the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.  As a result, false positives are imminent and unless you are sure what you're doing, you should always consult with knowledgable folks (e.g. the forums) before deleting anything.  Click here to visit the Spywareinfo website.
BHO Dameon Think of BHODemon as a guardian for your Internet Explorer browser: it protects you from unknown Browser Helper Objects (BHOs), by letting you enable/disable them individually.  It also monitors your Registry and alerts you when a BHO is installed.  Best of all, BHODemon knows about the most common BHOs - the good ones, and the not-so-good ones!
